Reproductive health problems in women are many. They are an inseparable part of any women's health. There are many generic drugs available in the market today that help in treating such conditions. Let us discuss and understand two of such drugs - Yasmin and Clomid.

Yasmin is a drug used to prevent pregnancy. This drug works by preventing ovulation. The scientific name of Yasmin is drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol. It should be taken strictly under medical supervision as it may lead to certain ill effects. Some ill effects and precautions include:

  • Yasmin should not be taken by a woman who is already pregnant. This may lead to certain birth defects in the unborn baby.
  • Yasmin is also known to affect breast milk. Therefore it should not be taken by women who are breast-feeding a baby.
  • Yasmin does not provide protection against any sexually transmitted diseases - including HIV or AIDS. So beware.
  • Smoking along with Yasmin can be dangerous. It greatly increases the risk of heart attack, stroke, and blood clot.
  • Many drugs are known to interact with Yasmin and make Yasmin less effective. So check with a doctor before you fully rely on this drug.
Briefly, this is all about Yasmin that helps to avoid pregnancy. But what if you want to be pregnant and some health condition is preventing you from this wonderful experience. Yes, if you wish to be pregnant and there is problem related to ovulation, Clomid can just be the right drug for you. Clomid is one of the more affordable fertility drugs.

Clomid, also referred as Clomiphene citrate, induces ovulation, corrects irregular ovulation, and helps in increasing egg production. It stimulates the ovary into producing more eggs. Just like Yasmin, this drug also has its ill effects. Let us look at some of these:
