many. They are an inseparable part of any women's
health. There are many generic drugs available in the
market today that help in treating such conditions. Let us
discuss and understand two of such drugs - Yasmin
and Clomid.
Yasmin is a drug used to prevent pregnancy.
This drug works by preventing ovulation. The scientific name
of Yasmin is drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol. It should
be taken strictly under medical supervision as it may lead
to certain ill effects. Some ill effects and precautions include:
- Yasmin should not be taken by a woman who
is already pregnant. This may lead to certain birth defects
in the unborn baby.
- Yasmin is also known to affect breast milk. Therefore it
should not be taken by women who are breast-feeding a baby.
- Yasmin does not provide protection against any sexually
transmitted diseases - including HIV or AIDS. So beware.
- Smoking along with Yasmin can be dangerous. It greatly increases
the risk of heart attack, stroke, and blood clot.
- Many drugs are known to interact with Yasmin and make Yasmin
less effective. So check with a doctor before you fully rely
on this drug.
Briefly, this is all about Yasmin that helps to avoid pregnancy.
But what if you want to be pregnant and some health condition
is preventing you from this wonderful experience. Yes, if
you wish to be pregnant and there is problem related to ovulation,
Clomid can just be the right drug for you. Clomid is one of
the more affordable fertility drugs.
Clomid, also referred as Clomiphene
citrate, induces ovulation, corrects irregular ovulation,
and helps in increasing egg production. It stimulates the
ovary into producing more eggs. Just like Yasmin, this drug
also has its ill effects. Let us look at some of these:
- Clomid should not be taken by a pregnant woman or one who
has a history of liver disease.
- Adverse effects of Clomid include Vasomotor Flushes, abdominal
or pelvic discomfort, distention or bloating, nausea and vomiting,
breast discomfort, visual symptoms, headache, and abnormal
uterine bleeding.
