23 May, 2007

Having witnessed great demand and curiosity among women much before its official launch, lybrel will be soon available in the pharmacies. Manufactured by the Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, the drug is sanctioned to be utilized for the effective prevention of pregnancy among women who have no qualms about its efficacy and are ready to keep their menstrual cycle on hold.

"Women who are keen to put their period on hold and are seeking contraception alternatives, lybrel will be an idyllic choice", says Ginger Constantine, M.D., Vice President, Women's Health Care, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.

Lybrel is the only and first low dose combination contraceptive pill which offers 365 days, i.e., complete protection from pregnancy without any break and can be taken 365 days a year.

The pill is formulated for women who are on hunt for contraception and want to be cycle-free. To make women complete menstrual hurdles free, Lybrel proffers a constant low dose of hormones. However, it is crucial for women to know that the drug may results breakthrough bleeding and spotting in the initial three to six months as it was noticed during the clinical trials. But it does not entail that lybrel poses any delay to menses and fertility.
