Sanofi Cuts '06 Guidance On Apotex
Pre-Injunction Sales-2
01 September, 2006
The amount of Apotex sales prior to the injunction
and the effect of these sales on market conditions are unknown.
Yet, 'based on information circulating on the market,
it is possible that prior to the imposition of the injunction, Apotex
has already sold sufficient quantities to satisfy substantially
all market demand through the end of 2006,' Sanofi said in a press
statement.
The new guidance also takes into account the full-year
impact of the availability of generics of Allegra, Amaryl, Arava
and DDAVP drugs, as well as the 'substantial launch costs of Plavix
in Japan and rimonabant,' Sanofi outlined.
The drug maker's new forecast also assumes selected
items of EUR300 million, compared to after-tax selected items of
EUR168 million in 2005.
The new guidance is based on an exchange rate of
EUR1 for D1.25, with sensitivity to the euro/dollar rate estimated
at 0.6% of growth for a 1-cent movement to the exchange rate.
Sanofi's Board of Directors has been presented
with these on Thursday and the group 'will determine in liaison
with the relevant partners the necessary measures of adaptation',
Sanofi said.
