Sertraline

Generic Name: Sertraline
Brand Name: Zoloft

Sertraline (Zoloft) is used to treat mental depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, other panic disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, and social anxiety disorder etc. It works by increasing the activity of the chemical serotonin in the human brain.

How Is It Used?
Recommended dose of sertraline is 25-200 mg once daily. Treatment usually started at 25-50 once daily and then gradually increased at weekly intervals until the desired output is seen. Sertraline may be taken with or without food.

Common side effects associated includes:

  • Inability to have an Erection
  • Sexual Problems
  • Altered Interest in Having Sexual Intercourse
  • Dry Mouth
  • Drowsiness
  • Abnormal Trouble Sleeping
  • Excessive Sweating
  • Involuntary Quivering
  • Loss of Appetite
  • Diarrhea

In case of emergency/overdose
In case of overdose, call your nearest local poison control. If the victim has collapsed or not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Symptoms of overdose may include:

Hair loss
Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
Changes in sex drive or ability
Drowsiness
Excessive tiredness
Vomiting
Rapid pounding or irregular heartbeat
Upset stomach

What If I Miss A Dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

How Should It Be Stored?
Store at room temperature between 15-30°C (59-86°F).
